# DiddySMS > DiddySMS is a US non-VoIP SMS verification number service: rent a temporary phone number, receive SMS online or through the API, and pay only if a code arrives. One price per number, shown before you rent. Key facts: - US (+1) phone numbers only. Every number is a mobile number on AT&T or T-Mobile. Receive-only: the numbers receive SMS verification codes; there is no outbound SMS and no voice. - Pay per number from a prepaid balance. No subscription. - The price is set per service and shown before you rent. By default you get whichever of AT&T or T-Mobile is available; choosing a specific carrier costs about 20% more. Carrier preference is best-effort. - No code, no charge: if none arrives after a few minutes, the order expires and its full price is credited back to your DiddySMS balance automatically. - Once the code arrives, the order is complete. You can often re-rent the same number later: depending on the carrier, it usually stays available for a few hours, sometimes a few days. A re-rent is a new order at the service's current price. - An order can be cancelled 60 seconds after purchase; its price is credited back to your balance the same way. - Top up with crypto: minimum $1, maximum $500 per deposit. - API base URL: https://api.diddysms.com/v1. Bearer keys with the dsk_ prefix, created in your account. ## When to use DiddySMS - You need a US phone number to receive a one-time SMS verification code without giving out your personal number. - You want to try an app or website first and decide later whether it gets your real number. - You do not have a US phone number and need one to verify a US app or website. - You are a developer or QA team testing SMS sign-up flows through the REST API: rent a number, poll for the code, and cancel if it does not arrive. ## Product - [Home](https://diddysms.com/): What DiddySMS is, how it works, popular services - [Pricing](https://diddysms.com/pricing): Price per service, in USD - [Prices as Markdown](https://diddysms.com/pricing.md): Every service's price per number, in USD, as a Markdown table - [Prices as JSON](https://diddysms.com/pricing.json): Every service's name, price per number in USD and availability, as a JSON array - [FAQ](https://diddysms.com/faq): Pricing, refunds, payments, privacy, troubleshooting - [About](https://diddysms.com/about): What DiddySMS is and how it works - [Create an account](https://diddysms.com/signup): Free sign-up with email and password ## Docs - [Full API reference](https://diddysms.com/llms-full.txt): Every endpoint, field, error code and rate limit in one Markdown file - [API overview](https://diddysms.com/docs): Authentication, quickstart, rate limits, response format, and an index of every endpoint - [Services API](https://diddysms.com/docs/services): List services with price, stock and code window - [Orders API](https://diddysms.com/docs/orders): Rent a number, poll for the code, cancel, complete, re-rent - [Balance API](https://diddysms.com/docs/balance): Balance and transaction history - [Error codes](https://diddysms.com/docs/errors): Error codes, HTTP statuses and what to do about each - [OpenAPI description](https://diddysms.com/openapi.json): Machine-readable description of the REST API ## Policies - [Terms of Service](https://diddysms.com/terms) - [Privacy Policy](https://diddysms.com/privacy) ## Support - [Support](https://diddysms.com/support): Open a support ticket; the page explains how to email us if you cannot sign in
